Richard Andrew Kerr Chelsea Richard Andrew Kerr passed away November 17, 2013 surrounded by his family. Dick was 90 and lived in both Chelsea, Michigan and La Quinta, California. Born in Coldwater, Michigan he worked in the Kerr hardware store until high school graduation, after he attended DePauw University before enlisting in the US Army. He served on the front lines as a German interpreter during World War II
. Following the war he returned to DePauw to receive his Bachelor's Degree and attended graduate school at the University of Michigan
. During the early 1950's he established Kerr's Inc. in Battle Creek, Michigan and later founded Fairfield Corporation, a real estate development company. Dick served through the years as President and Chairman of the Board. Dick is survived by his wife, of 42 years, Helen. Children include Danese Maldonado, La Quinta, CA, David Kerr and wife Suzanne of Battle Creek, MI, Pamela Adams and husband Peter of Centerville, OH Wendy Arbuszewski and husband John of Aiken, SC, Deidre Braun of La Quinta, CA, Robert Braun of Honolulu, HI, Jeffrey Kerr of Saugatuck, MI, and Scott Kerr and wife Robin of Battle Creek, MI. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Natalie Smith. Dick and Helen were members of Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor, MI, Inverness Country Club in Chelsea, Michigan, PGA West and La Quinta Country Club in La Quinta, CA. He served as a Board Member at Barton Hills and La Quinta Country Club along with the Bob Hope Classic. Dick was a loving husband, proud of his family and a good friend to many. He loved golf and celebrated 8 holes in one also travelling with the 200 Club and People to People. Private arrangements are pending.
