Thomas Harold Newton Sr. Battle Creek Thomas Harold Newton Sr., 76, of Battle Creek, MI, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born December 16, 1935 the son of Jesse James Newton and Trudie (Jefferson) Davis. Thomas was employed for 35 years at Michigan Carton Co. until retiring in 2000. He was the owner / operator of Newton and Sons Remodeling in Battle Creek over 50 years. Thomas is survived by Wife of 39 Years: Betty Newton of Battle Creek, MI; Sons: Thomas (Teresa) Newton Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, Gregory Newton of Inglewood, CA, Terence Lee Newton of Battle Creek, MI, Dennis (Yvette) Newton of Battle Creek, MI, Michael J. Johnson of Battle Creek, MI, Donnie D. Newton of Battle Creek, MI; Daughter: Susan M. Newton of Indianapolis, IN, Shirley Johnson of Battle Creek, MI, Trudie (Eric) Newton-Matthews of Battle Creek, MI, Marie (Paul) Newton-Ockert of Battle Creek, MI, Nakisha Vanessa Marie Newton of Battle Creek, MI; 39 Grandchildren and 31 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Ruth Herman Smith of Battle Creek, MI and Mandy Howard of Battle Creek, MI. He was preceded in death by Son: Randy Johnson; Brothers: Erie J. Newton and Elgie Newton Sr. Thomas enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He played softball for Michigan Carton for many years. He was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He sang in the Traveling Stars gospel quartet for 56 years and served as the president. Visitation will be held at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 637 W. VanBuren Avenue on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Reese Cemetery, Springfield, MI.
