William Dean "Bill" Minear

William Dean "Bill" Minear Battle Creek William Dean "Bill" Minear, age 81, of Battle Creek, died Saturday evening, November 3, 2012 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence of Battle Creek. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on March 8, 1931 the son of Pearl A. and Mildred M. (Hamp) Minear. After graduating from Battle Creek Academy in 1949, Bill attended Western Michigan University and Andrews University. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1950 and was with a security detail in Germany until September 1953. Bill returned to work in the family business, Minear's Auto Radiator Service. He was the owner & operator of the business on South Kendall Street after he purchased it from his father in 1957 until he retired in 1997. Bill enjoyed deer hunting in the U.P., traveling, wintering in Florida and spending time with his family and many friends. He was a very active member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Tabernacle, Pennfield Exchange Club and the American Legion Post #54. Bill is survived by his son, Jack E. (Cyndi) Minear of Battle Creek; his daughter, Tami K. (José) Martinez of Berrien Springs, MI; 7 grandchildren, Daniel, Jacob & Caleb Minear, Sebastian, Linnéa, Andreas & Christian Martinez; his former wife, Eva (Perkins) Cloud and a special friend, Judy Montych. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ramona (Robert) Sullivan. At the request of the family, they will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate Bill's life will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Battle Creek Seventh-Day Adventist Tabernacle, 264 Michigan Ave., Battle Creek. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.
