Carol Taylor Obituary

Carol M. Taylor Battle Creek Carol M. Taylor, 91, passed away April 26, 2011 at the Heritage Assisted Living Community. Carol, the daughter of Adolph and Edna (Radewald) Knott was born January 26, 1920 in Niles, MI. Carol graduated from Niles High School in 1937. She then attended Michigan State University graduating in 1942. Carol married Leonard L. White in 1942, that marriage ended in divorce. She married Duane B. Taylor in 1977. Carol was very actively involved in the PTA at Roosevelt School while her children were students there. She worked at Woodlawn Nursery School for several years, at Jacobson's Department Store and the Battle Creek Flying Service. She and Duane loved their summers at the cottage on Glen Lake and the many years they wintered at Lake Tarpon Mobile Home Park in Palm Harbor, FL. She was on the Dance Committee, sang in the Gold Tones Choir and belonged to the Boat Club at the Lake Tarpon MHP. Since 1945 Carol has been a member of the First Congregational Church of Battle Creek. Carol is survived by her children Jan (Linda)White of Battle Creek, Gary (Nancy)White of Ft. Wayne, IN and Sheryl Makela of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren Jan (Heather) and Eric (Amanda) White of Battle Creek, David and Pamela Myatt of CA, and Shenoah White of Ft. Wayne, IN; 4 great-grandchildren: Brady, Lacey, Jada and Shelby; her sister Alice Saathoff of Westminster, MD; step-son David Taylor, 2 step-grandsons Jason and Matthew all of Minneapolis, MN, a step grand-daughter Erin Gavin and her 2 daughters of Texas. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Duane and former husband Leonard, her parents and son-in-law Richard Makela. At Carols request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the Miller Chapel at the First Congregational Church 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011. Interment of the cremains will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the First Congregation Church of Battle Creek, the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are by the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
