Battle Creek
Hope C. Elferdink, age 38, of Battle Creek, passed away June 5, 2016, at her home.
Hope was born on July 17, 1977, in Battle Creek to Pedro and Dorathea (James) Sevidal Jr. She graduated from Coldwater High School with the class of 1995 and went on to earn her nursing degree from Kellogg Community College. Hope made it her life's work caring for the elderly at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility in Battle Creek.
Hope loved being outdoors, boating, and hosting family get-togethers. She was very involved with her children and loved them more than anything.
She is survived by her father, Pedro Sevidal of Coldwater; mother, Dorathea Sevidal of Ludington; children, Emma and Noah Elferdink of Battle Creek; brothers, Mike (Beth) Sevidal of FL, Carl (Kaycee) Sevidal of Coldwater, and Shawn Sevidal of Muskegon; sister, Catina (Jason Ball) Sevidal; nephews, Joshua Sevidal, Kody Sevidal, Christian Sevidal, and Eoin Sevidal; uncles, Constante Sevidal, and Ramon (Jasmin) Sevidal; cousin, Dana (Archie Cristobal) Sevidal; and 2nd cousins, Dara and Darchie Cristobal.
Visitation will take place at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Shaw Chapel, on Friday, June 17, 2016, from 2-8pm, with a Rosary at 7pm. The family will be present to greet friends during the visitation from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek at 11am with Father Christopher Derda officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service.

Dr. And Mrs. Sevidal. My heart is so broken over the loss of your beloved Hope. Words can not express the heartfelt sympathy for you and all of your family. I used to babysit sit the kids and remember when Hope was born. I remember Mrs. Sevidal...you would always smooth things over with my mom, Joanne Piotrowski, and me during those rough teenage years. I loved you so much for all you did for me, even though I never told you. You used to love my coffee. You and mom would sit at the table and solve all the problems in the world. You even talked mom and dad into letting us girls get our ears pierced. I have been thinking about you ever since I found out about this terrible tragedy. I've read the other comments about Hope. I remember her being very young and it's so nice to read about the wonderful girl she grew up to be.. Prayers and hugs.
