Obituary Condolences

Alice Louise Younggren Petoskey July 4th, 1937 - April 18th, 2012 "He Only Takes the Best" God saw she was getting tired And a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around her And whispered come with me. With tear filled eyes we watched her Suffer and fade away. Although we loved her deeply We could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating Hard working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Alice Louise Younggren (Crooks), 74, of Petoskey, died on April 18, 2012 at the Hiland House of Hospice of Little Traverse Bay. She was born in Battle Creek, MI, which is where she met her soul mate of 54 years, William Edward Younggren. The two were married on August 24th, 1957 at the First Congressional Church in Battle Creek by Dr. Carleton Brooks Miller, and after traveling by car to California for their honeymoon began their lives together; lives devoted to both each other as well as the three children they had together. She is survived by two daughters, Lora Lee McNaney (Stephen) of Frederick, MD, and Denise Marie Carleton (Douglas) of Waterford, MI; one son, William Edward Younggren Jr (Amanda) of Shelby Township, MI; five grandchildren, Christina Marie Carleton (and her fiance Nick Pardington) and Robert Joseph Carleton, and Cassandra Karen, Charles Edward, and Carson William Younggren; and by a sister, Mary Ann Tolf of Battle Creek, MI. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Walton and Dorothy (Pyatte) Crooks. Alice will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery with private family services. There will be a public celebration of Alice's life later this summer at the Petoskey Bay View Country Club. The date and time are to be determined and will be announced.
