Alice Sayles Obituary
Alice B. "Pat" Sayles

Alice B. "Pat" Sayles, 79,  passed away on May 10, 2015 at Country Acres Adult Care Home in Eaton Rapids, MI where she had been a resident for the past two years.  Pat was the daughter of Dale K Foote Sr. and Irene (Frank) Foote, born on July 5, 1935.  She married Kendal L. Sayles on February 22, 1952.  She worked 35+ years for Michigan Bell Telephone/AT&T, retiring in February 1989.  Alice was most proud of her family.  There were many Holidays where the family gathered around Grandmother Foote's home to share time with one another.  There were also July trips to Mackinaw Island with extended family and trips to visit her sister in Alabama with her sister and daughters.

Many will remember Alice as a fun person who was always busy doing something, whether it was cleaning her immaculate home, working in her gardens raising flowers and vegetables, sewing clothes for her children, or crocheting afghans for her family.   Her home was her favorite place to be except for the occasional over the road trip with her husband in his semi-truck.  She will also be remembered for taking great care of her health so she would live a long life.  This included walking many miles a day around her homestead property and the gardens.  Up until she was diagnosed with vascular dementia she was a picture of impeccable health.

Alice is survived by her  four daughters, Karen (Terry) Ferrier of Vermontville, MI, Victoria ( Thomas) Coltson of Bellevue, MI, Patti (Luke) West of Bellevue, Polly (Chris) Sayles-Hatfield of Cincinnati; 8 grandchildren, Lucas Bauman, Jim West, Luke West,  Joe West, Dale West, Jacob West, Stasia Swiger, and Betsy Smith. and 19 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brothers Dale K Foote Jr. of Vermontville, Raymond (Mary) Foote of Arizona, Edwin ( Alice) Foote of Nashville; sisters Barbara Hess of Alabama, and Phyllis (Leo) Trumble of Vermontville.  She was preceded in death by husband, Kendal Lee Sayles, and her parents.

A special thank you to Sheila Henderson, owner of Country Acres, and her wonderful staff, for loving and taking such great care of our Mom.

Visitation will be held at Pray Funeral Home on Thursday, May 14th, from Noon to 2:00 PM.  A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 14th, at the Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur Salisbury, officiating.  Interment will take place in Needmore Cemetery following the service.
