Alice Johnson Obituary

Alice V. Johnson Sarasota, FL Alice V. Johnson, 82, died on December 4, 2010 in Sarasota, Florida. She was born December 25, 1927 in Ionia, Michigan, the daughter of Robert and Virginia Weisgerber. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Phillip; children, Katherine Biltz (J) and Thomas Johnson (Marie); grandchildren, Austin Biltz, Andre Levy and Allison Johnson; and great-granddaughter, Nina Levy. Also, by her sister, Jean Storey of Chelsea, Michigan, and her brother, Stuart Weisgerber of Ionia, Michigan Alice and Phil lived much of their married life in Brazil, Belgium and Jamaica. Always ready to offer her time to volunteer organizations, Alice's generous and caring spirit endeared her to all she met. Her broad-minded approach to life and fun-loving nature made her a good friend to her children and grandchildren, as well as a supportive mother. She will be sorely missed by friends and family, but will never be far from our thoughts and memories. A memorial service is being planned for Ionia, Michigan after the holidays, with interment in the family plot at Tuttle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Senior Friendship Center, Brother Geenen Way, Sarasota, Florida and or to Tidwell Hospice, 5955 Rand Road in Sarasota.

I'll remember Aunt Alice for the fun we used to have when I'd take the train to visit from Ann Arbor to Battle Creek when I was very young. She was a wonderful letter writer when she lived so far away from all her family. We lived her experiences through her letters. She was a kind and gentle soul to every life she touched. We all have wonderful memories!

This is a time to celebrate a great life, lived to its fullest. I'll remember my aunt Alice as an optimist who was a positive influence on so many people's lives. Certainly she will be missed, but she lives on in our memory.
