Ann Couch, 96 of Battle Creek, died Wednesday March 18 2015 at Reflections in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Ann was born on June 30, 1918 in Orange, New Jersey to Warren and Alice (Muller) Denton. She graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey, on June 23, 1936. She attended Greenbrier College for Women in Lewisburg, West Virginia, and graduated in 1938.  She then went to work at Radio Marine Corporation in New York City.

She married Robert (Bob) Couch on May 29, 1943 in Maplewood, New Jersey.  They moved to Chicago from 1943 to 1946 where Bob worked for the Army.  Then they moved back to Maplewood in 1946 where Bob joined General Foods Corporation and they finally moved to Battle Creek in 1951 where Bob continued his employment with General Foods Corporation until he retired after 33 years with the company.

During her 60 years in Battle Creek, Ann was involved in many community activities.  She was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Conserso Circle, later the Emma Denham Miller Circle.  She was a member of the Junior League of Battle Creek.  Ann was an active member of the Battle Creek Art Center and the Leila Arboretum. She served as a Gray Lady at Leila Hospital in the late 1950s and early 1960s.  Ann and Bob were active members of the Battle Creek Country Club since their arrival in the early 1950s.

Ann's friends will remember her for her enthusiasm; kindness and positive out look on life.  She enjoyed gardening, bridge, knitting and reading.  She loved to play tennis and golf.  Ann and Bob traveled extensively and enjoyed skiing, sailing and hiking together.

Surviving are her daughter Marilyn (David Axelrod) Couch of Portland, Oregon, and her son David (Susan) Couch of Holland, Michigan; their children Blake (Jennifer Menefee) Axelrod, Jereme Axelrod, Dyan (Charlie) Westropp and William Couch and her great grandchildren River Axelrod and Reese Axelrod.   Her parents, her husband Robert Couch and her brother James Denton, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 28, 2015 in the Miller Chapel at First Congregational Church with Rev. Tom Ott officiating. Interment, Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
