Barbara Ronan Obituary

Barbara L. Ronan Marshal Barbara L. Ronan, 83, of Marshall, died on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, surrounded by her family at Oaklawn Hospital. Barb was born on December 11, 1926, in Auburn, Indiana to Charles and Helen (Hewitt) Hornett. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1944. She married Keith Ronan in 1956. Their marriage ended in divorce. Barb worked for the Schuler's Commissary and later would retire from Campbell's Soup, after working 25 years. She loved the outdoors, especially enjoyed working in her garden, going for walks, bird watching, and fishing. Barb was an avid sports fan and frequently attended Marshall High School sporting events. She was an excellent cook, loved to bake, enjoyed crocheting, and embrordery. Barb loved spending time with her family especially the time she spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Ken (Christina) Ronan of Battle Creek; two daughters, Ann(Larry Neal) Heathcote of Wyoming, Cindy (Terry) Spalding of Batavia, Illinois; two grandchildren, Brendan Joseph Ronan, and Rachel Lynn Spalding. She is also survived by her two sisters, Judith (James) Witherspoon of Garrett, Indiana, Norma (David) Rhodes of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and a brother, Harry Lee Hornett of Kendalville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers; Charles Hornett Jr., Dennis Hornett; and infant sister, Rose Mary Hornett. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, from 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A memorial service will take place at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend James Codde officiating. Family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alley Cat Angels (A Feral Cat Rescue Society) or to Binder Park Zoo. Assistance with memorials is available at the Craig K.
