Betty Knapp Obituary

Betty Jean Knapp Battle Creek Betty Jean Knapp, 80, of Battle Creek died September 25, 2010 at The Oaks. She was born February 20, 1930, the daughter of Francis P. and Dorothy (Brown) McGarvie in Battle Creek. Betty graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1948 and worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company, the Federal Center and retired from Sears Roebuck after working there for 32 years. Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gerald L. Knapp of Battle Creek; son, Michael (Justina) Knapp of Dallas, Texas; brother-in-law, Donald L. Knapp of Battle Creek; nephews, Ronald L. Knapp of Union City, Stephan Knapp of Northville; niece, Janet (Rick) Albaugh of Battle Creek and cousin, Brenda (Michael) Kellam of Nashville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents and three aunts, Ruth Matthews-Spaulsburg, Beulah Brown-Gifford and Irene Brown-Clements of Fort Scott, Kansas. Betty was a former member of Lakeview Osteopathic Hospital Auxiliary, the Springfield PTA, she was a former member of the Springfield City Planning Commission and she served as a Boy Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed making jewelry and other arts and crafts and listening to music. The family requests memorials be made to the Art Center of Battle Creek. Services will take place at a later date. I was a neighbor on 30th Streeet for many, many years. I went to school with Mike. I'm so sorry to hear of Betty's passing. The Knapp's are a wonderful family. Betty will be missed.
