Charles B. Moreland

Charles B. Moreland, 94, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 14, 2013 after a long and happy life. Mr. Moreland was born June 13, 1919 in Whitfield County, Dalton, GA. During WWII, he was a Staff Sgt. in charge of the mess hall as a cook, baker and instructor. On November 2, 1940 he married Martha "Christine" Wilson in Marietta, GA and they were blessed with two daughters, Patricia Jeanette Howe of Charlotte, and Martha Donnie Cunningham. Both predeceased him. While serving in the Army, he and his family traveled to five states, including Washington, D.C. Charles has been a proud member of the Church of God of Prophecy since March 17, 1934 and became a licensed and ordained minister on December 17, 1943. His friends will remember him as a "walking bible" who could quote and explain any verse anytime. He was also an avid Detroit Tigers Baseball fan.
Mr. Moreland is survived by his wife of 73 years M. Christine, son-in-law, Eldon D. Howe; grandson, David A. (Eldora) Howe; great-granddaughters, Keisha Howe and "Sissy" Erron Sparks; great-great grandchildren Ty Pion, Brooke Pion and Caiden Charles Bailey.
The family will receive visitors at Pray Funeral Home Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 18 at 2:30 pm at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Anderson officiating. If desired, the family has suggested memorial contributions to the Church of God of Prophecy of Battle Creek, or to Eaton Community Palliative Care.
