Charlotte E. Hepler


Charlotte E. Hepler, age 101 of Homer passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on May 25, 1912 in Springfield, MO to Charles and Nora (Miller).  Charlotte graduated from Homer High School in 1930 and went to work for Ma Bell as telephone operator in the Albion, Tekonsha and Litchfield exchanges. On June 2, 1934 she married John Gordon Hepler and he preceded her in death in 1990.  Charlotte loved to travel, read, fish with her husband Gordon, play cards, tend her flower beds and watch the birds from her back porch.  The grandchildren will remember her strength, sense of humor and the way she could always make you feel better.  The family wishes to give a heartfelt "thank you" to the staff of Best Care Plus West who's loving care of Charlotte was greatly appreciated. 

She will be dearly missed by:  Daughter Anne (Walter) Penny of Grand Marais, MN & Naples, FL,  grand-daughters Jackie Mestdagh of Albion, Stephanie Mestdagh of Homer, Anne (Doug) Leach of Homer, grandsons Walter (Norma) Penny Jr. of Denver, CO, Stephen (Amy) Mestdagh of Wyoming, MI, great-grandchildren Ken (Stephanie) Tidd of Lake Odessa, Amanda Steele of Albion, Eric (Ashley) Leach of Marshall, Emily Leach of Battle Creek, Evan Leach of Homer, great-great grandchildren Morgan, Emerson, Emma, Beckham and Lexington, along with many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by:  Parents, Husband Gordon, daughter Mary Kaye Mestdagh, son-in-law Kenneth Mestdagh, sisters Mildred Good and Blanche Stephens and brother Robert Edwards. 

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 723 Old U.S. 27 North Marshall, MI 49068 from 5-8PM.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11AM at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services.  Internment will take place at Fisher Cemetery in Homer Township at 3:00PM.

The family invites any memorial contributions to be made to Oaklawn Hospice, 122 High Steet, Marshall, MI  49068.
