Corl Eugene Colles, age 91, of Battle Creek passed away February 9, 2016 at Heritage Assisted Living Facility in Battle Creek.

He was born on April 4, 1924 in Bedford Township to Harry George and Mona (Davis) Colles.

Corl served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps during WWII in England and France from 1943-1946. Throughout his military career, he earned the European Theater Ribbon with 4 bronze stars; the Good Conduct Ribbon; the Purple Heart; as well as the World War II Victory Medal. Corl met Margaret (Peggy) Rockett in England and brought her home with him. They were married in December of 1945 and had 2 children, Margaret and Robin. Together the family enjoyed horseback riding, and county fairs. Peggy preceded Corl in death in August of 1978.

Corl worked for a short time at Rich Manufacturing and A.B. Stove Co. before taking a position at Post Cereals as a Millwright. He retired his career with Post in 1984 after 35 years.

He married Joan M. Pomroy in November of 1980.  They loved to work in their garden tending the flowers. The couple was also very active in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Joan preceded Corl in death in July of 1995. Corl volunteered many hours of service. He loved being outdoors, cutting wood, fishing with his children, crewing on Robin's hot air balloon, and spending time with his faithful old dog, Jenny.

Corl is survived by his daughter, Margaret E. LaMore of Battle Creek; son, Robin D. Colles of Battle Creek; granddaughter, Laura LaMore of Battle Creek; great-grandson, Brady LaMore-Trimm of Battle Creek; sister, Norma Chilton of Delton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy (Rockett) Colles; wife, Joan M. (Pomroy) Colles; and sister, Donna Hodge.

Visitation will take place at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Shaw Chapel, 2838 SW Capital Ave., Battle Creek on Friday February 12, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with family present to greet friends at that time. A funeral service for Corl will take place at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Battle Creek on Saturday February 13, 2016 at 12:30pm with Father Brian Coleman officiating. Interment will follow the service at Bedford Cemetery in Bedford Township.
