Donna May Brown, 87, passed away on March 26, 2014. She was born to Rosa and Charles Farris in Tekonsha, where she also attended school.
On August 18, 1942, she married Darrell Brown. The couple resided in Coldwater for several years, moving to Tekonsha in 1955.
She served as township librarian, rural newspaper carrier, cosmetic consultant, and creator of custom wedding cakes. Donna spent much of her life as an active volunteer, working with numerous organizations, including Cub Scouts, PTA, Research Club, Mother's Club and Hospice. For 23 years she served on the Tekonsha Village Council, acting as clerk and mayor pro tem. She was a long-time member of the Union Church of Tekonsha holding the position of Women's Fellowship chairman for several years, as well as serving on the church council and distributing food pantry items. Other involvements included working through the Community Action Agency, assisting with operations of the Tekonsha Senior Meal Center and distributing Elder Pack commodities.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell, daughter Sharon (Keith) Walbeck of Battle Creek, daughter, Kathy (Thurman) Radtke of Ludington, son Richard (Mary) Brown of Marshall, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosa and Charles Farris, a sister, Charlotte Lyon, and a brother, Max Farris.
A funeral service is planned for 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Tekonsha Union Church, 206 W. Randall Street, Tekonsha. The family will greet friends for visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 prior to the service. Arrangements are by the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, 723 Old US 27, Marshall, MI.
