Donna Lou (Brown) Lepper Union City Donna Lou (Brown) Lepper, 84, danced her way to heaven on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational UCC Church in Union City with Rev. Dr. James Troust officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation Services in Union City from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and also prior to the service on Wednesday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Donna Lou was born on August 16, 1928 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Glenn and Bessie Mae (Smith) Brown. She grew up in Union City and graduated from Union City High School in 1945. She attended Elkhart Business College for medical training and married Jack J. Lepper on December 28, 1947. In addition to being a homemaker and mother, Donna Lou had many jobs through the years. She worked for Dr. Nelson at a small hospital in Battle Creek, Merchant's Hardware, the Dime Store in Union City and she was a babysitter to many area children. Around the age of 60, she began working as a secretary for the Union City Schools. She worked for several years at Sherwood Elementary, but spent most of her 20 years at the high school office. She served as secretary to the Athletic Director in her later years and she most recently worked at Broadway Bar & Grill in Union City as a hostess. Donna Lou loved to dance, being raised in a family that had a band in an era where dancing was very popular. She was an excellent seamstress, as she made many dance costumes and repaired football uniforms every year for the school. She enjoyed bowling for many years, even up until the age of 80. She will be remembered by her family for her love, loyalty and dependability. Donna Lou was a wonderful daughter to her parents, mother to her children and she just adored her grandchildren. Mrs. Lepper is survived by her daughters Tina Alford of Union City, Terri (Jim Topliss) Lepper of Green Sea, SC and Tangi Lepper of Union City, her grandchildren Kim Hebner, Michelle Thiel, Brooke (Ryan) Langdon, Justin (Angela) Alford, Ryan (Christy) Tundevold, Darcy Alford, Farra Barnett and Jordan Lepper, her great-grandchildren Nathan, Bree, Marly, Callie and Harper, her great-great-grandchildren McKenna and Brynlee and many nieces and nephews. Donna Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Duane E. Brown, her son-in-law Dar Alford, a stillborn granddaughter and her special sister-law Ellie Brown.
