Dorothy M. Stanfield Battle Creek Dorothy M. Stanfield, age 99, of Battle Creek died peacefully on Friday morning, November 30, 2012. She was born in Calhoun County, Michigan on November 9, 1913 the daughter of John A. and Emma (Hyde) Stevens. Dorothy grew up attending country schools and lived in the Battle Creek area all of her life. She worked as a cook at Ft. Custer in 1950, Postem in 1952 and then loved cooking and caring for the kids and staff at Southeastern Junior High School until her retirement after more than 13 years. Dorothy was sadly preceded in death by 3 husbands, Harold E. Rigel in 1958, Ralph Post in 1976 and James M. "Milt" Stanfield in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son, Edward Rigel; 5 sisters; 5 brothers and 3 grandsons, Ricky Reinitz, Marvin Reinitz Jr. and Tom Rigel. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Vivian L. (Roger) Brown of Banfield and Eunice E. (John) Bauserman of Battle Creek; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren & great-great grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and its Marion Circle and Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Home Grange #129, Burnham Brook Center and the Clark Retirees Club. Dorothy was very involved in ushering and cooking dinners at the church. She enjoyed flower gardening, embroidering and spending time with her family. At the request of the family, they will receive friends 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral services to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Home Grange #129 would be appreciated.
