Battle Creek

Pastor Emeritus Edward O. Marshall, 83, of Battle Creek, MI went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 22nd. He was born July 26, 1931 to Robert M. and Pauline (Tidwell) Marshall.

He was a member of the first graduating class of 1960 at Battle Creek Community College (which later changed to Kellogg Community College). He attended Western Michigan University where he graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Special Childhood Education. He was a teacher at the Michigan Department of Education/ Department of Mental Health, served as the Executive Director of the Battle Creek Area Urban League and later moved to the Kellogg Company where he was a Personnel Director. He took a medical retirement from Kellogg.

He was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost at an early age at Bethlehem Temple Church under the founder, Pastor Altora Townsend. He served as the Assistant Pastor of Bethlehem Temple for numerous years.  In 1988, God had a higher calling on his life and the Pastoral mantle was passed on to Pastor Marshall. He faithfully served as Pastor until December of 2006.

Pastor Marshall was a man with a vision for God. He has a special heart for children. From coast to coast he was loved and known as "Poppy" and filled in the gap as a Father, Grandfather, confidant, Uncle and friend to all those who needed him.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Doris Henry on July 15, 1967. They share 3 children.

Pastor Marshall leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Doris Annette Marshall; daughters, Kiela (Brian) Samuels and Denise (Greg) King; his son, Edward (Michelle) Marshall and his Foster Sons, Dewayne McGhee and John Cummings; grandchildren; sisters, Beulah Brown and Frances (Kenneth) Dunbar and sisters-in-law, E. Aleta (David) Wilson and Diantha Stafford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 31st from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held January 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Temple of Battle Creek with Rev. Michael S. Eubanks officiating. Burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
