George B. Tidd


George B. Tidd passed away January 6, 2016. George was born January 13, 1927 in Marshall; the son of George D. and Eulah M. (Brooks) Tidd, and moved to Potterville when he was three.  George's mom died when he was nine years old, and he grew up on the farm in Potterville and in Battle Creek. A veteran, George proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Taconic and in the Reserves until 1950. A loyal employee of Grand Trunk Western Railroad, George retired in 1986 with thirty two years of service. George enjoyed fishing, traveling, canoeing, cross country skiing, gardening and mostly spending time with his family. George was also a life member of VFW Post 422 in Delton.

On September 1, 1951; George married the love of his life: the former Harriet E. Pike who survives. George is also survived by children: Deborah (Brian) Lehman, Barbara Katts, and Steve (Beth) Tidd, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Franklin, and sisters: Dorothy and Margaret.

George's family will receive friends Monday, January 11, 2016, 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, Delton; where his funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Pastor Brian Bunch, officiating. Burial will take place in Brush Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions to VFW Post 422, Faith United Methodist Church, or Barry County Animal Shelter will be appreciated.
