1940 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
Geraldine C. Kenney

Hudson, FL

Geraldine C. Kenney, age 75, died on February 24, 2016 at her home in Hudson, Florida while in the loving care of her family.

Geraldine was born on November 10, 1940 in Hamtramck, MI to Charles and Mary (Czyrka) DeCarlo.  She grew up in the Detroit area and attended Cooley High School where she graduated from.

While in high school she became sweethearts with Paul Michael Kenney.  That grew to love and marriage.  The couple lived in the Detroit/Warren area for many years until moving their family to Battle Creek in the early 1970's.

Her husband grew tired of working in the vending/cafeteria industry in the Fisher Body Plant in Kalamazoo.  So Geraldine and Paul bought a Little Debbie's franchise and entered the wholesale food distribution business together.  Paul drove the route and called on their clients and Geraldine kept the books.  At the same time she worked at Meijer Thrifty Acres starting in 1973 as a cashier.  She served the company in that capacity as well as a Training Mentor until her retirement in 1998. Paul preceded her in death in 1991. She sold the Little Debbie franchise in 1992.

After her retirement, she moved from Battle Creek to Hudson, Florida in 1998.  She has enjoyed living there since then.  Geraldine was married to Edward Rittenhouse in June of 2015 there.

While living in Battle Creek, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  After moving to Hudson she was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church. Geraldine enjoyed gardening, entertaining, golf, dancing, and traveling.

Surviving are her husband Edward Rittenhouse; her sons, Michael P. (JoAnne) Kenney of Scottsdale, AZ, Mark Kenney and Matthew Kenney both of Battle Creek and her daughter Michelle M. (Dale) Curtis of Poway, California; and 11 grandchildren.
