Harry L. Thompson Marshall Harry Thompson, age 106, went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 29, 2013. Harry was born on January 12, 1907 in Toledo, Ohio, to Louis B. and Maude S. (Wyckoff) Thompson. He attended Park School, Central School and Marshall High School. He also went to Ferris Institute for Pharmacy training for 2 years, graduating in 1928. Harry worked for the Abbott Drug Store while he was in high school where he continued to work after graduating from college. He also worked for Beers and then for Pecks until 1941. This is when Harry became General Manager for the Brooks Rupture Appliance Company in 1941. He was also in charge of the former Morgan Medical Facility (Calhoun Company Infirmary) Pharmacy while it was located in Marshall. Harry married Mabel M. Peters in Marshall on February 11, 1933. She preceded him in death on March 13, 1981. Harry married Harriett T. Parrish Wilson on December 11, 1982. The couple enjoyed 24 years of marriage together. They loved Marshall and involved themselves in the community in many ways. Their love for each other was an inspiration to family and friends. After 24 years of marriage Harriet preceded Harry in death on December 25, 2006. Harry and Harriett traveled extensively to Alaska, Florida, Arizona, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Hawaii, and Nova Scotia. He was an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church including the choir, former Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday school teacher, Vestryman, Jr. Warden, and Treasurer. Harry also was a former member of the Marshall Exchange Club since 1981 and a member of the Executive Club, Chamber of Commerce (Charter member), and received the Episcopal Bishop's Service Cross. One of the highlights of his life was being the Grand Marshall of the Marshall Christmas parade. He also enjoyed walking the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk for several years. Harry is survived by his daughters, Judith A. Kidder, Harriet (John) Carroll, and Betty Ann Wilson all of Marshall, Pat Wilson (Art) O'Leary of Portage; son, David L. (Jo Ann) Thompson, Walter J. Wilson of Marshall, Harry (Connie) Wilson of Dacula, Georgia; grandchildren, Bryan (Brenda) Kidder, Beth (Stuart) Webb, Jennifer (Tim) Kidder and Jeffrey (Shelley) Thompson, Marjorie (Starr) Walbeck, Vickie (Scott) Diseth, Kelly (Alex) Arima, Wallis (Jerry) Franks, Matthew (Beth) Wilson, Paula (Kevin) Langlois, Julie (John) Laupp, John (Tionne) Carroll and Arthur (Gabby) O'Leary; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a cousin Beverly Groesbeck of Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Thompson, and cousins, William L. Page, Lawrence Thompson, Wendall Thompson, Herbert Wilson, and daughter-in-law, Verna Wilson Visitation will be held at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home in Marshall, 723 US 27 N, on Thursday, from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. with the family present to greet friends. A service to celebrate Harry's life will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church on Friday at 11a.m. with Mother Anne Schnarre officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oakridge Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Trinity Episcopal Church.
