Helen Lothamer Obituary
Helen M. Cox Lothamer

Helen M. Cox Lothamer, 96, of Bellevue, our dear mother, died peacefully surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grand children.

Helen was born in Coldwater, Michigan on September 10, 1918.  She was the daughter of William and Rachel Ladd Cox.  She married John Lothamer in 1939 and together they farmed in the Coldwater area for many years and raised fourteen children.

In 1965 the Lothamer family moved to Bellevue, Michigan as a result of the newly constructed highway, I-69 running through their property on Fenn Rd.  Helen and John founded a new and welcoming community in Bellevue and continued with general farming and raising fresh Michigan produce.

Helen had many milestones in her life, but one she was most proud of was being the first 4-H Branch County Queen.  Coldwater honored her in 2009 by designating her the Grand Marshal of the 4-H parade. Riding through Coldwater in a red convertible at the age of 90 was very special to her.

Helen was the mother of Susanne, James, Mary Elizabeth, Sharon, Jack, Peter, Rose, Jesse, Timothy, Simon, Helen, Joseph, Patrick, Jerry and Christopher.  She is the proud grandmother of 45 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren.  She had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren.  She was a loving aunt to many and a friend to all who knew her.  She regularly corresponded with distant family members and kept up with all that goes on in a large family.

She was preceded in death by her husband John; son, Jack and infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth.

Visitation will take place Monday, October 13th, 2014 from 2 until 8:00 p.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bellevue where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. and a wake at 7:30 p.m.  A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14th, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Charlotte. Interment will follow at the family burial site, Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.  A luncheon will follow at St. Ann's in Bellevue.  Memorials may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church, Bellevue.

Helen Cox Lothamer had a remarkable life.  She remained active until a few days before her passing.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and her memory will be forever cherished.

The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel.
