Hugh farmed all of his life and was known for his pumpkins!  He sold them for more than 20 years.  Hugh bowled twice a week, or as he said, "exercises twice a week".  He also enjoyed watching his Detroit Tigers, growing strawberries & blueberries, and up until recently walked a mile a day with his best friends and pets, Sonny his dog, and White Paws his cat by his side.   Hugh was a past-president of the Calhoun County farm Bureau, Battle Creek Farm Bureau Co-Op, Marshall Farm Bureau Oil, the Michigan Livestock Exchange, was on the Emmett Township planning commission, member of the MMPA, Newton Township Association, attended Newton United Methodist Church, Home Grange 129, and sang with the barbershop group SPEBSQSA.

The family will receive friends12:00 (noon) to 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral services to celebrate Hugh's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev.
