James Edward Lee

Battle Creek

James Edward Lee, Age 77 of Battle Creek passed away February 24, 2015, at Bronson at Home Hospice in Battle Creek. He was born on September 19, 1937, in Fort Wayne, IN, to the late Ralph and Vivian (Grabner) Lee.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Patricia (Loman) Lee. Also surviving is his sister, Sharlene (Lee) Lister of Battle Creek, his children, Dawn Lee, David Lee, Lorre (Rob) Berry, Lisa Lee, Jeffrey (Kim) Lee and James (Debbie) Hager all of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three nieces.

James served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and the Air National Guard for twelve years. He retired from Denso Manufacturing in 2002, but was previously a police officer and an employee of Eatons until its closing. He was a member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the now Omni Credit Union, for many years. He was a licensed pilot and an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He was a huge racing fan his whole life, but when younger, he built and raced his own cars. He also loved antique cars and was an avid reader. He was the rock of the family and they will struggle to go on without him.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:00p.m., Monday, March 2, 2015, at Hicks Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to his favorite charity, the local Salvation Army. Arrangements by the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. www.henryfuneralhome.org
