Mrs. Janice Faye Turner died peacefully at home in Battle Creek, MI, on August 7th, 2016, at the age of 78.

Janice was born on January 20, 1938, in Jackson, MI, to Paul and Marion Johnson. Janice graduated from high school in 1956. She was offered a scholarship to Michigan State University. She chose to forgo the offer to start her career as a bookkeeper. She married Richard in 1957. After moving to Battle Creek, MI, Janice began working for Plante Moran as the office manager. Over 25 years before retiring. The couple welcomed 2 children into their home Rick and Rowdy. Her children remember her as a kind and gentle mother who encouraged them always to pursue their goals and dreams.

Janice was active in 4H where she fell in love with animals and spent her youth with her mother and father on their farm in Jackson, MI, learning to appreciate the outdoors. Janice found a love for tennis, golf, and bowling and soon became quite competitive at all three. She was a generous and dedicated individual who loved helping others and who was passionate about helping anyone she came in contact with. She was an active and dedicated volunteer at Beadle Lake elementary where she helped children who struggled with reading reach their goals. There was never anyone Janice came in contact with that she did not try and help or make their day a little better.

Janice is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard Turner; children, Rick and Rowdy Turner, grandchildren, Rex, Autumn, and Harley Turner, siblings, Geraldine Cooper (Traverse City, MI). She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Paul R. Johnson and Marion M. Johnson, (Jackson, MI)

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Brad Hubbard will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Janice's life.
