Jesse H. Finney Obituary
Jesse H. Finney Battle Creek Jesse H. Finney, 84, of Battle Creek died at home, surrounded by his family, on June 10, 2012. He was born in Battle Creek January 26, 1928 to Harlo and Lula May (Collyer) Finney, and was a lifelong resident of Battle Creek. Jesse was married to Lois Sult on October 21, 1944 at the home of her parents, and they enjoyed a marriage that lasted for 61 years and ended when Lois preceded him in death on January 31, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Harlo and Lula Finney; son, Richard Finney; sister, Violet Lyons; and son-in-law, Rhan Chantrene. Jesse is survived by two daughters, Linda (Allan) Blankenship of Grand Ledge, Nancy Chantrene of Battle Creek; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Finney of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; a sister Velma Byers of Battle Creek, and a brother George Finney of Battle Creek. Jesse retired from the Clark Equipment Company in 1986, after driving semi- truck for them for 20 years. His love for life was centered around his family, and he and Lois did some traveling when their son Richard was a pastor in Kentucky and their daughter Nancy and son-in-law Rhan were stationed in Junction City Kansas when Rhan was in the military. He loved to camp with Lois and they spent many summers at the Tri-Lakes Trails campground south of Marshall. He enjoyed bowling; country music, particularly country gospel, music by Daniel O'Donnell; and playing various card games with family and friends. Jesse's family will receive friends 12:00 noon -1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Robert G. Muirhead 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Harper Creek Baptist Church following interment.
