John C. Flanders

John C. Flanders, 81, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at home after a long illness.
John was born June 11, 1933 in Battle Creek to Morris and Kathleen (Walker) Flanders.
He graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1952. He was always called "Jack" by his family. On March 14, 1953 he was united in marriage with Lois Perry. He was a lifelong Battle Creek area resident and worked at Post Cereal for 37 years, retiring in 1989 from the maintenance department.
His interests included his family, travel, collecting classic automobiles, raising horses; and especially enjoyed many generations of dogs and cats. John was active in a travel trailer club as long as his health allowed. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle in Fort Custer State Park.
John is survived by his wife Lois of 61 years; sons, David (Judy) Flanders of Battle Creek, James (Monica) Flanders of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Charles Flanders of East Leroy; daughter, Sharon (William) Bailey of East Leroy; sister, Nancy Kirkpatrick of Saline; 10 grand children and 8 great-grandchildern.
Friends may call from 3 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday December 21, 2014 at Shaw Funeral Home. Funeral, 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation, or Good Samaritan Hospice.

I worked with John for quite a few years at Post.He was one of the "good ol' boys". He will truly be missed. My blessings to his family.
