John Alan Ginnebaugh, age 85, of Battle Creek died Thursday evening, March 24, 2016 at Bronson Battle Creek.  John was born in Battle Creek on June 24, 1930, the son of Fred A. and Violet G. (Parker) Ginnebaugh.  He graduated from Lakeview High School and furthered his education at Western Michigan University.  John faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army from September 1948 to September 1953.  John owned and operated Speedy Chick and Ritzee's for many years and had also worked at Prudential Insurance, the Kellogg Co. and Post Cereals.

John married the "Love of His Life", Betty Jane Gaul at the First Congregational Church, Battle Creek on July 15, 1951; she survives.  He is also survived by his daughter, Terri R. (Patrick) Mullin of Brighton, Michigan; his son, Scott A. (Laura) Ginnebaugh of Battle Creek; 3 grandchildren, Brent P. (Michele) Mullin, Matthew R. (Chrisann) Ginnebaugh, and Kellee D. Mullin; a niece and 4 nephews.  John was sadly preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn R. Ginnebaugh, and his parents. 

John was a member of the First Congregational Church, Battle Creek and a life-member of the Battle Creek Lodge #12 F.&A.M., Shriner's International, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, and the American Legion Post #465.  He enjoyed reading and coin collecting.  He was also very interested in old pictures and stories, and loved animals and birds and traveling all over the country and beyond. 

A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 28, 2016 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Calhoun County Animal Shelter.  Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
