Joseph "Papa Joe" Miller

Battle Creek

Joseph "Papa Joe" Miller, 81,  passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 14, 1931 in New Weston, OH the son of Joseph and Mary (Hemmelgarn) Miller. He married Phyllis Niekamp on August 9, 1958 in Saint Henry, OH. Joe served in the Korean War. He owned and operated Miller Off Set Preparation for 20 years and later retired from Central MI Press. He enjoyed cutting wood, playing euchre, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Joe loved sharing his sense of humor by telling jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Miller; children, Sharon Merica, Greg Miller, Steve Miller, Michael Miller, and Dave (Denna) Miller: 2 siblings; and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings.

Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m.at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. and visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, 10:30a.m.at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice or St. Jerome Catholic Church.
