Karissa A. "Kari" Hamaker

Seabrook, TX

Karissa A. "Kari" Hamaker, 31 of Seabrook TX formerly of Marshall died November 17, 2015 unexpectedly at her home in Seabrook, Texas.

Kari was born on April 25, 1984 in Marshall to Michael and Kathleen (Schaberg) Hamaker.  She graduated from Marshall High School in 2002.  Kari went on to earn an Associate Degree from Kellogg Community College in 2008.

Kari was employed as an Executive Assistant for the National Life Group in Houston, Texas since July of 2015.  Prior to moving to Texas, Kari was employed for several years at Sargents Flowers and The Harvester Flower Shop in Marshall. She also worked at Taco Bell, and Tenneco in Marshall.  Kari was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, and also a former member of the Marshall Renegades Roller Derby Team.  When she was younger, she was a member of the Marshall Youth Theater where she was in a production every summer from age 8 until she graduated from High School.  She was also in Marshall Civic Players Productions and most famous, played the nurse in Romeo and Juliet. Kari was very active in dance from a young age until she was 25 years old.  She performed in several dance competitions at the state and national levels, as well as teaching dance in 3 studios.  Kari's love for performance did not stop at the theater or dance she continued that love with singing and was a part of the Marshall High School Women's Ensemble at Marshall High School for all four years.  Kari had a natural talent for floral design and enjoyed making several different floral designs for family and friends.   Kari was also an integral part of raising Brittanys and Spinoni Italiani with her family for KaLa Kennels.  She was a great puppy midwife, and loved helping raise litters of puppies.  Kari loved her family, and she held traditions close to her heart.  Her friends were a large part of her life.  Once you were a friend of Kari's,  she considered you family.  Kari had a presence and smile that lit every room she would walk into. Kari enjoyed life and all of it's simple pleasures.

She is survived by her Mother,, Kathy Hamaker; Sister Kassie (Justin Murphy) Hamaker; Nieces, Victoria, Vivian, and Veronica Murphy; Maternal Grandmother, Stuart Love; Paternal Grandmother, Freda Hamaker; and several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and her faithful dog, Max.  She was preceded in death by her Father Michael on July 4, 2015; Paternal Grandfather Laverne Hamaker in 1973; and Maternal  Grandmother Geraldine Love in 2012 and Maternal Grandfather Harold Schaberg in 1991.

Visitation will take place at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Marshall Chapel 723 US 27 North on Sunday November 22, from 4-8pm with family present to greet friends at that time.  Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 1pm on Monday November 23, 2015 at the Christ Lutheran Church, 440 West Drive North Marshall with Reverend David Boedecker  and Reverend Gail Monsma officiating.  Interment will follow at Lyon Lake Cemetery.
