Kenneth L. Struble, age 88, died unexpectedly in a tractor accident at his home on Friday, May 16, 2014.

Mr. Struble was born on July 27, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Roy Rex and Isabel (Strausle) Struble.  Kenneth had been a long time resident of this area moving here in 1948 from Edon, Ohio.  He had been employed by the Eaton Corporation in  Battle Creek for 37 years, retiring in 1985.  During WWII, he served in the United States Army Air Corp.

On February 1, 1947, he married the former Virginia Murel "Mert" Hand in Angola, Indiana.  She preceded him in death on February 1, 2006.

Ken was a very active man.  He enjoyed working on cars and in his youth held his private pilots license. He was a member of the Fredonia Grange and past member of the Odd Fellows.   Ken attended the First Wesleyan Church in Battle Creek.  He had also attended the Ceresco Baptist Church.  At the age of 84, Ken was baptized at the First Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by sons, Kenneth R. (Theresa) Struble Sr. of Charlotte, William D. (Vicki) Struble of East Leroy and Allen R. (Jill) Struble of Battle Creek; 8 grandchildren, Kenneth R. (Jessica) Struble Jr., Shawn M. Struble, Julie L. (Brandon) Williams, Douglas Lee (Joy) Struble, Kenneth J. (Sheri) Struble, Austin Marie Struble and Brianna Struble; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his parents, Roy and Isabel Struble; and brothers, Rex Daniel Struble and Floyd Russell Struble.

The family will receive friends at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, Marshall on Wednesday from 3 PM to 8 PM.  A funeral service to celebrate the gift of his life will be held 11 AM Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek.  Memorial contributions are to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
