Larry C. Kruger, 71, of Marshall, died on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Kruger was born on February 8, 1942, in Delia, Kansas, to Clayton and Sara Esther (Robinson) Kruger.  He graduated from Emmett High School in 1960.  After High School, he served in the US Army National Guard for three mouths, and he enlisted in the US Air Force in September 1960.  Mr. Kruger was stationed at Lakeland Air Force Base, then moved to Battle Creek base to work on jets for two years, and he was a line crew man in Atlantic City New, Jersey, Air Force Base during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

On July 21, 2013, He married Shirley Sanders-Newberry in Marshall.  He married Patricia Waltman Stevens in 1980.  She preceded him in death on May 13, 2008.  His marriages to Orletha Lytle, and Jalaine Keagle ended in divorce.

Mr. Kruger worked as a Millwright for the Eaton Company in Marshall for 25 years retiring in 1989.  He was a member of the Lyon Lake United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee.  He also was a member of the UAW Local 220.  Mr. Kruger enjoyed woodworking, and spending his winters in Florida.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of Marshall, children, Jana (Scott) Brandt of Bellevue, Dan (Annissa Lewis) Kruger of Marshall, Alan (Wanda) Dusin of Manhatten KS, Cindy (Mark Barnaart) McGinnis of Nashville MI, Teri (Don) Coss of Battle Creek, Robin Stevens of Union City, David Stevens of Stone Mountain, GA, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Elden, Bruce and Paul Kruger, sisters, Dorothy McNett and Paula Kruger and a son Jon Stevens.

Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Monday December 16, 2013, from 2-8pm with family present to greet friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.  Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 11am on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Stover officiating. The family will gather with friends at the Kempf Funeral Home Reception Hall following the funeral services. Entombment at Battle Creek Memorial Park will follow the luncheon.  Family requests memorial contributions be made to the or to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.  Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Funeral Home.  Leave a personal message for the family and sign the online guest book at www.kempffuneralhome.com
