Lawrence Willis Sonicksen, 81, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital. He was born July 8, 1933 in Hastings, MI the son of Willis and Orabelle (VanVleet) Sonicksen. He married his high school sweetheart, Dora Jehnsen, on November 21, 1951 in Rodney, MI. Lawrence volunteered for the Bedford Fire Department, working his way up to Captain. He worked for 20 plus years at LW Robinsons Department Store as a receiving manager. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Dora, in their motorhome, wintering in Florida and staying at their cabin up north in the summer. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids and traveling with them.

He is survived by his children, Lawrence (Barbara) Sonicksen and Christine Sonicksen; half-brother, Ronald Sonicksen; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dora; son, Jerry Sonicksen; and half-sister, Linda Sonicksen.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Pastor James Beavers of Level Park Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at the Bedford Cemetery in Bedford Township, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Level Park Baptist's Awana Children's Ministry.
