Leola Doroles Eubank

DeWitt

Leola "Lee" Eubank began her eternal life in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, March 28, 2014.  The only child of Ernest and Rheabelle Rowoldt, she was born June 24, 1924 in the dining room of her grandparents, Wellington and Mina Wright, of Dundee, Michigan, who raised her until the age of 14.  A 1942 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, Lee was a member of the National Honor Society, the Daughters of Liberty, Chemistry and Political Science.  She also enjoyed Student Council and the numerous dances.  She postponed furthering her education in nursing to work for the war effort.

In 1944 Lee traveled by train to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to marry Donald Eubank, whom she started dating during her senior year.  Discharged in 1945, Don and Lee built the first of two family homes, living for 23 years in Valley Farms and 14 years in DeWitt until Don's sudden passing in 1982.  She retired in 1990 as the Business Manager for Lansing Radiology.

She raised three daughters, Sharon (Jim) Villarreal of DeWitt, Nancy Eubank (Steve Edler) of Los Angeles, and her caregiver, Cathy Jo (Bob) Deer of DeWitt.  Three grandchildren also survive her, whom she loved dearly, Mark Villarreal, Brie (Ben) Rambo and Brigette Edler.

Lee was an active member of Valley Farms Baptist as an organist, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and deaconess and of South Baptist Church, teaching primary Sunday school.  She enjoyed the company of ladies in the Naomi Circle of DeWitt Community Church.

Reading, decorating her home and traveling always brought joy.  Family feasts were appreciated even after failing health negated her endless preparations, she would seek to provide small details to show the family how special and important they were to her.  Making her home warm and inviting, whether the girls were launching or landing back home temporarily, Lee provided a life-long example of unconditional love, perseverance and generosity.  She was brave, strong-willed and faithful through long years of declining health.  A wonderful prayer-warrior just relocated, and her ready touch and understanding will create a significant void.

The family acknowledges exemplary care by Dr. Mia Michelena and Grace Hospice, especially Nurse Rebecca.  Steadfast friends and new friend neighbors who graciously extended blessings in her final months.  She wished to share for all to seek, "Love Jesus Always - Love Jesus in All Ways."

Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Gary Schnepp, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington in DeWitt.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, at the funeral home.

The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel.
