Luann Leslie Church


Luann Leslie Church, 58, of Fulton, formerly of Battle Creek, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her brother's home following a battle with cancer.

A celebration of Luann's life will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, located 3 miles east of M-66 on M-60, in Union City. Pastor John McConihay of the Athens Indian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek, also on Monday. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the Lighthouse in Union City from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Luann was born on February 6, 1957 in Marshall, Michigan to Gordon E. and Nancy I. (Pombier) Church. She graduated from Harper Creek High School in 1975 and went on to Wright's Beauty Academy, where she became a licensed beautician. She worked at MI Ladies Salon in Marshall for several years. Her most recent and favorite job, was working as a cook at Marshall Nursing and Rehab. She lived in the Battle Creek area nearly all of her adult life, moving to Fulton in September 2015, so her brother and sister-in-law could care for her during her illness.

Selfless, warm, loving, strong, humorous, beautiful and amazing are just a few ways Luann's family describes her. She was a fighter and never gave up. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking and The Beatles.  She attended Grace Baptist Church in Marshall for several years and was baptized there as well.

Luann is survived by her son Brandon (Sarah) Walbeck of Marshall, her daughter Danielle Bowers of Battle Creek, her brothers Jack (Liz) Church of Fulton, Gordy (Sandy) Church of Ceresco, Charlie (Melissa) Church of Battle Creek, her sister Brenda (David) Riddle of Marshall, her grandchildren Sierra Bowers and Gavin Bowers, her great-granddaughter Natalie Miller, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
