Maggie Bolden Fortune Detroit Maggie Bolden Fortune, 90, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born August 16, 1923, in Palestine, Arkansas, the daughter of William and Lucy (Hall) Bolden. She attended Battle Creek Public Schools. Maggie moved with her family to Michigan and settled in Battle Creek. Maggie's father, William Bolden, was one of the early Black Barbers in Battle Creek. Maggie was employed in both the Hospitality and the Restaurant Industries. Her favorite pastimes were fishing, shopping and traveling. Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Shirley (Stan) Tuggle and Mrs. Vivian Kay Pierce, both of Battle Creek, and Ms. Beverly Pierce of Detroit; one stepson, Mr. Lamont Pierce of Chicago, IL; grandsons, Troy (Shandell) Evans, Pontiac, MI, Spencer (Diatri) Tuggle, Sr., Battle Creek; granddaughters, Sherry Evans, Maylasia Pierce, Christy (Howard) Roberson, Elainia Ward of Detroit, Shannon Tuggle Manley of Fayetteville, NC; great-granddaughters, Daleeka Daniels, Dalissa Daniels, Alexis Ward, Chelana Evans, Denisha Evans of Detroit, Mariah Manley of Fayetteville, NC, Shanae Tuggle of Battle Creek; great grandsons, Tory Evans, Marquise Evans, Q'Lonte Evans, Daryl Daniels, Jr. of Detroit, Troy Evans, Jr., Quan Evans, Dalvin Tuggle, Donte' Tuggle, Spencer Tuggle, III of Battle Creek, Vincent Mobly Jr., of Orlando, FL; great-great-grandchildren, Tyress and Tyrelle Evans, LaMarion Evans, Maurice Evans, Jalayah Daniels of Detroit, Kiara Smith of Dayton Beach, LF, Chance Moore of Omaha, NE, Anae'Jah Huntley, Aijah'Nae Evans, A'Jhiona Evans, Rhiley Parson, Damartrel White, KayJuan Evans, all of Battle Creek; nephews, George Bolden, Harold Bolden; nieces, Donna Fullerton, Betty Armstrong of Battle Creek; great nephews, Michael Wallace, Joseph Fullerton, Jr.; great niece, Cheryl Fullerton of Battle Creek; special cousins, Rosalee Baker, Mary Broadnax, Ozie Pye, II; special friends, Ethel Fitzpatrick, Linda Griffin. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert L. Fortune; siblings, Lawrence (Doc) Holiday, William (Buster) Bolden, Thelma Wallace, RosaMae Bolden and Aileen White; grandson, Kieauntee D. Ward; great grandson, Spencer L. Tuggle, III. Maggie was a long time member of Emanuel Temple of Battle Creek. Arrangements entrusted to O. H. Pye, III Funeral Home. Services are scheduled Friday, November 15, 2013.
