Margaret Joan (Mandoka) Kilgore Athens Margaret Joan (Mandoka) Kilgore passed away peacefully at her home on the Pine Creek Indian Reservation, Sunday November 18th, 2012 after a long illness. Margaret is a proud member of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi and granddaughter of Chief Samuel Mandoka. Margaret is the eldest daughter of Homer Mandoka Sr. and Grace (Cawcawbe/Nottaway/Henry) Mandoka. Margaret was well known for her wonderful sense of humor, extreme generosity, love for life and knowledge of our tribe's history and family ties. She would take any opportunity given to travel and was an active member of the Salvation Army for many years. Margaret is survived by her siblings; Vonda Harris, Beverly Cochran, and Homer Mandoka, Jr. from the Pine Creek Reservation. Three children; Virginia Dawn Santos of Saginaw, MI, Linda Dee Rice of Ceresco, MI and Dwight Everett Kilgore of Battle Creek, MI and seven grandchildren; Hewey Simpkins, Kristina Fisher, Justin, Kimberly and Jessica Kilgore, Jennifer and Shelby Santos and a very special friend Randee Foerster from the Pine Creek Reservation. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Grace Helen (Henry) Mandoka and Homer Austin Mandoka Sr. and two sisters Connie Ellen (Mandoka) Bole and Rosanne Mandoka. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 1st 2012 at the Indian Mission Cemetery with Pastor John McConihay officiating. In loving memory of Margaret memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army. After the services a luncheon to follow at the Pine Creek Community Center.
