Mary Curtis Obituary
Mary Yvonne Curtis

Charlotte

Mary Yvonne Curtis, 72, of Charlotte, died surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Marshall, MI.  Mary was born January 23, 1943 in Battle Creek, MI, the daughter of the late David Fowlkes and Marian Lettie (Kellogg) Head.  She graduated from Olivet High School before attaining her LPN and RN degrees and working as a nurse for over 30 years, first in Battle Creek, and then Ingham Regional, where she retired in 2006.  Mary married Clare W. Curtis on February 9, 1963, and the two raised three sons.  Mary loved the outdoors, especially fishing.  She and Clare enjoyed several trips out west to fish and to Hawaii.  She was an avid gardener and birdwatcher and was a fanatical Lions and MSU fan.  Mary enjoyed her time crafting and especially her dogs, BJ and Micah.  She tirelessly volunteered many hours for the Boy Scouts of America, and, most recently, Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte.  Above all, Mary loved her family.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Clare Curtis; sons, John (Tamara) Curtis of Charlotte, Lyle Curtis of Battle Creek, and Warren Curtis of Battle Creek; 3 grandchildren, Collin (Alissa Heiser) Curtis, Kent Curtis and Ashley Jacobsen; 2 great-grandchildren, Amilyah and Colton; and step-siblings, Gary (Donna) Head and Cindy (Cliff) Cheyne.  She is predeceased by her step-mother, June Head and step-brother, Michael Head.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Winford Collins officiating.  Visitation is 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.  If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to Eaton Community Palliative Care.  Friends and family are encouraged to share memories of Mary on her tribute page at www.prayfuneral.com.  The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home.
