Mary (Barnet) Large


December 8, 1930 - May 31, 2013

Mary grew up in Port Huron, Michigan and graduated from St. Stephen's High School.  She was a graduate of St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana, and received an MA in painting from Pius XII Institute, Florence, Italy.  Mary taught art at Comstock Public Schools and the Kalamazoo Institute of Art.   She was an active member with the Signature Artists Co-Op, Art Etc., SW Michigan Watercolor Society as well as the Italian group Circolo.

Learn more about Mary, view her Life Story Film, and visit with family and friends on Wednesday, June 5 from 1:00-3:00 PM and 5:00-7:00 PM at the Life Story Funeral Home, Betzler - Kalamazoo; 6080 Stadium Drive (800-822-7594), where the rosary will be recited at 1:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 6 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 12648 East "D" Avenue; Augusta.  Following the mass, burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Food and fellowship will be shared back at the church hall following the burial.

Mary was born in Port Huron, Michigan to John and Ruth (Wittliff) Barnet.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Francis Large, in 2008; children:  Alicia Marie Large in 1964, and Colman Francis Large in 1999; and granddaughter, Lillie Frances Gleason, in 2013.  Mary is survived by her children: Kevin Matthew Francis Large and Andrea Mary Large; grandchildren: Daniel Nicholas Large; Finley McNeil "Neil" Gleason and Nora Rosemary Gleason; daughter-in-law, Laurie Large, all of Kalamazoo; siblings:  John A. "Jack" Barnet II, Dr. Robert (Carol) Barnet, Barbara (Tom) Tincoff and Dr. Lawrence (Liz) Barnet; and many nieces and nephews.
