Melania A. Barker Battle Creek Melania A. Barker, age 62, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 after a brief illness, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Melania was born in the Philippines. Her family and countless friends will miss her deeply. She was always so full of laughter, love energy, and so willing to help anyone who needed it. At social events her egg rolls were a big hit. Melania's joy was planting flowers; she couldn't wait for spring to arrive. We all had to have flowers and she planted them. She was our flower girl. Melania worked at Barker Manufacturing for twenty years during that time she became a United States citizen and was so proud of her Citizenship, her co-workers called her Miss America. She was a life- long Christian and loved attending church. Surviving are Melania's husband, Ralph A. Barker; mother-in-law, Norma B. Barker; aunt, Connie Snyder; sister in laws, Sally (Rick) Hunt, Marty (Craig) Puruis; and five nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Melania's Philippino friends and co-workers who have been so supportive. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation was held at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on July 30, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Funeral services followed at 4:00 PM with Pastor James Codde officiating.
