Mulford A. "Jim" Rose Battle Creek Mulford A. "Jim" Rose, age 88, of Battle Creek, MI, died Sunday evening, September 9, 2012 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI. Jim, the son of Francis and Gladys (Shaw) Rose, was born on May 12, 1924 in Battle Creek and was a lifetime resident. He served his country honorably during World War II as a Private First Class in the United States Army. Jim was stationed in the Asia-Pacific Theater with the 472nd Quartermaster Corp. He retired in 1983 after 38 years of faithful service at Kellogg Company as a food processor. Jim crewed for the "Re-Max" Hot Air Balloon Team for many years; enjoyed breakfast and dinner at The Idle Hour; went hunting as often as possible, but his true passion in life was his daughter, Bonnie and her two sons, Blake and Blair. On January 10, 1948 at the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek, Jim was united in marriage to the former Vivian M. Steele, who preceded him in death on April 24, 2000. Surviving are his daughter, Bonnie K. (Gerald) Cooper of Battle Creek; his two grandsons, Blake A. Tenney of Tucson, AZ and Blair P. Tenney of Battle Creek; his sister, Margaret (Len) Sentowski of Brevard, NC and his brother, Frank (Mary) Rose of Hendersonville, NC. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Humeston and her husband, Rex. The Graveside Service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Wednesday, September 12th at 11:30 AM at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI, with the United States Army Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing Full, Military Honors. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Vivian, immediately following Honors. Friends will be received today, Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek..
