Pauline M. Ballou "Polly", age 94, a long-time resident of Albion, Michigan passed away peacefully on August 17, 2015 at Traverse City Victorian Senior Living Community in Traverse City, MI.

Polly was born in Flint, Michigan, April 17, 1921 to Harrison and Lona DeMott.  She was the second oldest of five children.  Polly attended public schools in Flint and later obtained a degree in elementary education from Central Michigan University. She married Kenneth C. Ballou February 6, 1944, and began her teaching career in both Flint and Albion, educating children for 37 years.

Polly was a long-time member of PEO, ELT, and the Philanthropic Women of Albion.  She Spent 21 years as a dispatcher for the Albion Area Ambulance Service and also volunteered for the Albion Red Cross Blood Bank.  Polly was an active member of the First Methodist Church, where she was a wedding coordinator for many years.

Polly lived life to the fullest.  Everything she did, she did with enthusiasm and a special determination.  A Well-known gourmet cook, Polly enjoyed sharing her talents with others.

Whether it was basket-weaving, needle-point, or calligraphy, her loving ways and zest for life was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Lona DeMott; her loving and devoted husband, Kenneth C. Ballou, Sr.; son, Kenneth C. "Chip" Ballou, Jr.; sisters, Neoma Colpitts and Juanita Vogelsberg; brother-in-law, Hunter Colpitts.  She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Ann Ballou of Elk Rapids; granddaughter, Caitlin Ballou of Minot, Maine; sister, Thelma (David) McKellar; brother, James (Esther) DeMott; brother-in-law, Don Vogelsberg; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, August 28, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church, 600 E. Michigan Ave., Albion with Rev. Jeanne Randels officiating.

A special grateful, heartfelt thank you is extended to Carol Comai of Kalkaska and to the entire staff of the Traverse Victorian Senior Living Community and the Munson Hospice of Traverse City.
