Pauline Mernabel Harrison Sherrick

Pauline Mernabel Harrison Sherrick passed from this life into her eternal home on Monday, January 12, 2015. Pauline was born on December 14, 1916, in Kalamazoo County, the third daughter of Clarence J. and Fleda (Frazier) Harrison. Both preceded her in death. Pauline graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1935. She married Nyle V. Sherrick on October 14, 1939. The marriage ended in divorce.

Three daughters were born to the marriage, Nyleen (Charles) Barrows of Colorado, Nancy (Gary) Schrimer of East Leroy and Linda (Ken) Thompson of East Leroy.

Pauline retired from the VA Medical Center as the secretary for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services. Pauline loved her job. A perfectionist by nature, Pauline was a valued employee and earned many awards and recognition of her superior performance. Pauline was a seasoned traveler and especially enjoyed trips to Hawaii and Europe where she saw The Passion Play in Austria. She also enjoyed knitting, reading and Wheel of Fortune. Pauline instilled her strong Christian faith in her daughters. She held many position at Newtown Church of Christ were she was a faithful attendee. She taught a teen Sunday School class, held the positions of secretary, treasurer and Sunday School Superintendant. Pauline had a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed singing until the final days of her earthly life.

Pauline is survived by her three daughters, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Clarida Barker and Cathryn I. Adams.

Visitation will be from 9:00am to 11:00am, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Royal Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice of your choice.
