Ray Treen Jacobs

Punta Gorda, FL

Ray Treen Jacobs, 84, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away May 18, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born March 26, 1930 in Decatur, Michigan to Maxwell and Mildred Etter Jacobs.

He was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School in 1948 and then served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict as a Russian language specialist.

In 1961, he received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from  Michigan State University and practiced in Hillsdale, MI from 1971 until his retirement in 1990. He worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a Research Scientist, taught at Michigan State University and was a Master Gardener. He had many varied interests including magnetic therapy, culinary arts and gardening.  He served on many civic and professional boards throughout his life.  

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rose Marie Seaman Jacobs, and five children, Pamela (Todd) Winchester, New Smyrna Beach, FL; David (Lana) Jacobs, Coldwater, MI; Karen (Robert) Cole, Tampa, FL; Jefray Jacobs, Punta Gorda, FL; and Julie (Kyle) Brunk, Fort Gratiot, MI.  He leaves behind seven loving grandchildren: Holly (Heather) Price, Jay Easterday, Jacob Winchester, Brian Boyd, Maxwell Jacobs, Jordan Jacobs and Olivia Brunk and one great grandchild, Mark Kaijankoski. He is survived by a brother, Roger (Barbara) Jacobs of Zephyrhills, Fl.  

A memorial service will be held at Battle Creek Memorial Park on June 12, 2014 at 2:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to your local Humane Society. You may remember him at www.icscremationandfunerals.com
