Richard Raymond Hiatt

The Villages, FL

On September 28, 2015, Richard Raymond Hiatt of The Villages, Florida passed away after bravely battling brain cancer for most of 2015. He was born May 9th, 1941 in Battle Creek Michigan to police chief Raymond and school teacher Beatrice. He was known as "Dickie" to his parents and "Dick" to his high school friends. He attended Kellogg College after graduation until enlisting in the Navy in 1961. In 1965 he returned to Michigan after his honorable discharge and worked at local companies in Kellogg until opportunities led him to Florida and New York. 1972 marked the beginning of his own family and he and his wife settled long-term in New York until 2007. After retirement, they relocated to The Villages. Richard's kind and pleasant nature will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Mercedes; children, Richie Hiatt, Vanessa Potter, Barrett Hiatt; and grandchildren Clive, Karamea, and Ian Potter.
