Robert L. Smith

Robert L. Smith Homer Robert L. Smith, 81, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Allegiance Health in Jackson, Michigan. He was born December 17, 1929 in Homer Township to William and Bessie (Humphrey) Smith. In 1953 he married Doris J. Wilson who preceded him in death July 27, 2002. Robert owned and operated Smith Farms for most of his life. He was on the Homer School Board for 17 years and the Township Board of Review for several years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, MMPA (Michigan Milk Product Association) Homer First Presbyterian Church, Pedro Card Club. Robert enjoyed following his grandchildren in there activities. Robert is survived by: daughter- Julie (Steve) Swafford of Homer; sons- Doug (Jill) Smith of Homer, Mark (Cathy) Smith of Homer, Brad (Gretchen) Smith of Homer. 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, sister- Joan (Leon) Brodock of Tekonsha, Brothers- Don (Mary) Smith of Litchfield, Gareth (Karen) Smith of Brighton; sister-in-law- Charlotte Smith of West Palm, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John and a grandchild. Visitation for Family and Friends will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI 49224. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Marvel officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Homer.
