Robert Gibson Obituary

Robert W. (Bob) Gibson Climax Robert W. Gibson passed away Tuesday, November 30th, 2010 at Bronson Hospital surrounded by his family. Bob was born February 3, 1945 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Clyde and Kathryn (Carlson) Gibson. He attended Climax-Scotts High school graduating in 1963. He was a standout basketball player for the Panthers nicknamed "Lonesome End Bob" for his scoring ability on offense. After graduation he was drafted by the Army and was stationed in Germany from 1964 - 1966, where he was a cook and a meat cutter. After returning home he would often cook for the family making enough to feed a small army. After the army, he worked for Keene Corporation in Kalamazoo for over 20 years until the company closed. He then began working for the Climax-Scotts School District and became head of maintenance until his retirement in 2007 after 23 years. Bob enjoyed watching sports and was a Big University of Michigan fan. He loved ice fishing, golfing, bowling and playing softball, winning many tournaments with his little brother Mike. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and close friends, Charlie, Ernie, Steve, Leon, Hank and Dan. He was also a regular at Mom's Sunday dinners. In June of 1971 Bob married Johanna Mottor, together they raised three boys who survive: Bob (Martha), Bill (Shelly), Brad (Lisa); eight Grandchildren: Matt, Darren, Alyssa, Connor, Bobby Jon, Grace, Emma, and Brady. Also surviving are his mother, Kathryn; four sisters Linda Stephens, Nancy Foster, Carol (Lee) Borden, Robin (Gary) Eyre; one brother, Mike (Janet) Gibson, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Clyde, and brother-in-laws Frank Stephens and Jim Foster. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Military Service at Fort Custer National cemetery will take place on Friday, December 10 at 11 a.m. A gathering to celebrate Bob's life will take place on December 11, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Scotts Community Center in Scotts, Michigan. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mr. Robert Gibson was loved by family and friends he will be missed. Our creator cares he knows the sufferings of his loved ones he will comfort them. Hosea 13:14 reads " From the hand of Sheol [the common grave] I shall redeem them; from death I shall recover them."

My condolences dear family members. Whatever "Homer" did, he did it well! He fought what was right and argued what was wrong. His life had purpose. You just have to be strong in your time of sadness. The man i knew wouldn't want it any other way. May peace rest your sadden hearts.
