Rodney Scott Wilson, Sr., 65, of Kalamazoo, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 at his home. He was born January 4, 1951 in Battle Creek, the son of Harry Donald and Bonnie Jeanne (Beller) Crandell. Rod graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1969. He received his degree in Electronics through National Technological Institute in Grand Rapids. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, reading, bowling studying Indian Lore and World War II military. Rod was an avid Renaissance participant as Rodrick the Bear. He looked forward to playing board games every Friday night for the past 30 years with the same group of friends. His most special moments were spending time with his kids, flying a 1934 Waco bi-plane and a B-25 Bomber at the Kellogg Airfield. Rod owned and operated The Sub Shop in Battle Creek for 5 years. He managed Jackie's Pizza for 6 years and really enjoyed that line of work. Rod then went to work for Metaldyne in Middleville as a machine operator for 10 years before his retirement in the work force. 

He is survived by his children, Rodney "Scott" (Jolene) Wilson, II, Michael (Carey)  Wilson, and Wendi (Mark) Wahl; fiancée, Angel Ott and her children, Tegan, McKenzie, and Connor; sister, Talle Dahn; grandchildren, Morgan Sweezy, Jakob Doody, Michael K. Wilson, Trenton Scott Wilson, Xavier Jordan Wilson, and Abby Doody; great grandchildren, Eli and Ethan Anderson; ex-wife, Sharon Wilson Tenney; nephews, Steven and Brandon Dahn; and niece, Erin (Dustin)  Bowman.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie and father, Harry Crandell.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM Bachman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Worden of Hickory Corners Bible Church officiating.

Inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI at a later date.
