Roger C. Curtiss

Battle Creek

Roger C. Curtiss, age  73, of Battle Creek,  passed away July 27,  2015.  He was born August 7, 1941 in Hastings, Michigan,  the son of Clarence and Marjorie  (Barry) Curtiss.    A 1959 graduate of Hastings High School he pursued a career as a tool and die maker, completing his apprenticeship in 1966.  As a journeyman tool and die maker, he worked for several companies including Clark Equipment Company where he was supervisor of the tool room before starting his own tool and die business,  Fort Custer Tool and Engineering, which he ran from 1983 to 2000.  During his career he also owned and operated Twirl Top Cones, and Arms and Sundries.  He served on the Battle Creek Planning Commission, was a  35 year member of the Company of Military Historians, a member of the Kalamazoo Valley Tractor Club, the NRA and was an avid genealogist.  He attended Hickory Corners Bible Church for the past 15 years and attended the  Community Church of God in Lake Placid, Florida during the winter months.  On November 10, 1962 he was married to Sharon Elaine (Foley).  She survives.  Also surviving are his daughters, Katherine (Jon) Powers, Jennifer (James) Ackley of Battle Creek, and Theresa (James) Montague, of Gillette, Wyoming, and eight grandchildren, Ethan and Madeline Powers, Erin, Andrew, Matthew, and Elise Ackley and Emma and Peter Montague, and his brother, Roland Curtiss of Hastings, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Ruby (Cogswell) Curtiss and his brother David.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday August 3, 2015 at the Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville with Rev. Jeff Worden officiating. 

The family will receive visitors on Sunday August 2, 2015 from 4-7PM at the Daniels Funeral Home.

Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service at Fuller Cemetery in Hastings, MI. There will be a time of fellowship and luncheon at the Hickory Corners Bible Church located at 1650 Osborne Rd. Delton MI. following the graveside service.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to The Gideons International or Hickory Corners Bible Church.
