Rona Johnson Obituary

Rona Mary Johnson Battle Creek Rona Mary Johnson, age 83, of Battle Creek, MI, died peacefully Sunday evening, October 10, 2010, at the Gull Arbor Senior Living Facility of Richland, MI. Rona was born on June 14, 1927 in Bath, England and emigrated to this country and the Battle Creek area in 1948. She was the daughter of Albert George and Kitty (Booy) Townley. Rona enjoyed gardening, but her true passion in life were her husband, Floyd and her daughter, Sunday. On September 23, 1948, in Battle Creek, Rona was united in marriage to Floyd Laverne Johnson, who preceded her in death on September 18, 2010, after nearly 62 years of marriage. Surviving are her daughter, Sunday Rona (Sam) Mony of Scotts, MI; her three sisters, Carol (Fred) Lane of West Milford, NJ, Esther Jennings of Barrowby, England and Gloria Roberts of Bath, England: her brother, Gordon Townley of Bath, England; and many nieces and nephews. Rona was preceded in death by her parents, and by two sisters, Barbara Parson and Valerie Thomas. The graveside service to celebrate Rona's life will be held on Thursday, October 14th at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Rona will be laid to rest next to her husband, Floyd on the hallowed grounds of Fort Custer. There will be no visitation.
